AMELIA ROWCROFT

After graduating from the Wimbledon School of Art, Amelia began working in the film industry specialising in Art and Construction Departments. She graduated from the Sculpture Programme at The Florence Academy of Art in 2004.

Amelia seeks to represent what it is to be human through her sculptures. For her, portraiture is about capturing the spirit of a person. An artist and subject develop a relationship through the sculpting process, and her portraits convey this intimacy to a viewer. When working from life, Amelia works with her subjects to find a pose that conveys a mood or feeling. Through in-depth understanding of the mechanics of the human body, she builds her portraits and figures out loosely and expressively from a solid structure before finding forms and refining the surface.

Amelia teaches sculpture through her internationally renowned online courses: sculptingmasterclass.com
